Bit of a disaster second listen, actively couldn't stand parts of this - sort of like an album made by someone who thought 'Age of Adz' wasn't out there enough and decides to double the drama.

Def not for me.

i'm getting a lot of "at war..." vibes from this album, and i love that. the drums in "the fool you need" are so good—ian chang sounds as if he's going to lose the tempo at any moment and everything's gonna fall apart, but he just keeps chugging along.

also, the "weapons" reprise in this album is in "resurrection" at the 3:30 mark, right after everything blows up and ryan sings "Is this just what the resurrection feels like / From the other side, from the other side, from the other side?"

it was a lot easier to find it in this album than in previous albums. it took me forever to find it in "lanterns."

Bit disappointed by this... borderline 3 material. The production is beautiful as ever, as are the little orchestral flourishes. But it reminds me of We Are Rising in how melodramatic it is. Wish he didn’t sing in such an affected, laboured manner. Sounds like the Arcade Fire dude crying over the post office being shut. Aquatic is a very beautiful subdued moment, and automatically the best song here. Wish there were more songs in that vein.

Oh well... we’ll always have AWWWAM and Bones.

I still need to hear this. Was hyped for it after that lead single then got sidetracked by other releases.

'dream state' has a bit of a coca cola commercial vibe
