leak. they’re apparently selling it at shows plus some pre orders arrived early
the introduction of more electronic stuff works surprisingly well and where most bands use it as a gimmick to cover up half baked songwriting, they use it to expand the musical palette of already well written and memorable songs. considering this is very bogged down by repetitive songwriting and sameness, they definitely needed a change of pace and imo they pulled it off

Ooh that’s exciting. I’ll be honest, the most recent single had me nervous because I felt like the electronic aspects we’re an afterthought, so it’s good to see you don’t feel that way. Any songs that really break their structure? Interesting ballads or longer epics, something like that.
I try to avoid leaks so I’m gonna wait still, but you have me pretty excited for this.

i need more time with it to like associate track names to what i’ve heard since i’ve only played through the album twice but i remember one of them like does a beat switch type thing that’s probably the most out there it gets it’s not like enormously far from the formula just filtered through something that makes it feel more refreshing
also it’s very well sequenced the singles definitely worked better in the album

Fair! Obviously I love the formula, it just has gone stale for me. So these are all good things. I’ll try to avoid the leak as long as possible, but I can’t promise anything.
I’ll just go jam Reach for the Sun to tide me over.

I was weak and tried to give into the leak. I’ve never downloaded a leak though and couldn’t figure it out, so I took that as my sign to just be patient lol

there's an excellent thread for it on chorus.fm right now, if you don't mind a couple spoilers, the producer for the album hopped in there and gave a little AMA about how he and the band worked together to make Mother Nature. sounds like one of those symbiotic things that just took the band to the next level, and it shows in the music.

@Sowing you'd be wrong on almost every conceivable and feasible level

Well if the new one is as good as you say then this will drop to #2

Rowan/Sowing, what’s your ranking for their discography? Seems like we’d all be all over the place, which is interesting cause I thought there was a pretty clear consensus on these guys.

new one takes the more alternative rock, pop template this established and absolutely runs away with it. no more midsection that sounds like the same song 4 times over or underwhelming hooks, AJ is at his absolute peak and the arrangements/production are next level. can't believe I'm saying it but it tops War Paint

@dmath if I exclude the new one, which I probably should have heard it once lol, my ranking
War Paint (a genre best tbh, every song hits)
Golden Record (an ambitious failure for sure, but raw and emotional as hell, some of their realest moments)
Reach for the Sun (still very good)
self-titled (safe and uninspiring)

Ok yeah definitely gonna find the new one now. Too hyped, which might be a bad thing, but it sounds like what I’ve been waiting for since War Paint.
Have you checked out their first EP, If You Could Only Keep Me Alive? It’s obviously a bit more raw, but I would put it up there with Reach for the Sun and War Paint (which I probably have equal to each other)

I think I heard that EP a long long time ago, too long for me to remember much about it. I recall a really unpolished version of The Permanent Rain being on there, right?
also if you're having trouble finding the new one try the leak kingdom ;)

Yup, that’s the EP! Also interestingly there’s a song featuring Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low. It’a a really solid debut, a ton of great choruses on it.
And thank ya sir, we’ll have to see if I just happen to wander across the site, accidentally of course . . .
