this is just absolutely fantastic. improves on literally everything from the debut and expands a lot of what i liked from it. just does it better, production and vocals especially. this is like the perfect description of gloom as an atmosphere. doomy riffs, beautiful melodies and solos, lots of slow portions and just the exact right amount of keys/synths. great variety of riffs too, doom, trems and in the back end of the album some really chunky thrashy kinda riffs. i love these kinda blends. my fav songs first few spins are prob non serviam, mephesis of black crystal, the fifth illusion and ice shaped god.

really glad i added them into my bm binge, so much variety but still distinctly black metal.

Yep the Greeks had their own distinct sound for sure. You need to give Varathron a shot too!

Their later stuff is a lot more ritualistic sounding. They add a lot of gothic and folk influences starting with A Dead Poem. I love every single album they've ever made lol.

That album is one of the best of blending bm with gothic metal. Such a banger.

This is my fav indeed. The production job puts it over the top for me. They do get cleaner and more gothic after this. Theogonia (my second fav) starts adding some ritualistic dark folk sounding stuff too. Such a great discog. Not a single dud.

yes this raw production with the melodic sound is so nice but it works well really clean as well. makes the snyths and keys sound even more haunting. reminds me of into the nightside eclipse in that respect. like this is nightside and triarchy is anthems haha.

but adding folk sounds like a really cool natural progression. this is a discog i think i will finish!
