"Listen to streetcleaner man, that'll blow your face off"

Yeah just did, crazy how fresh it sounds. They were far ahead of their time for sure...

Personally, if I had to describe Post-Self in simple terms, it's like a reboot of Pure as far as experimentation within the Godflesh universe goes. AWLOBF by comparison is like a reboot of the Streetcleaner formula of just full on mechanical riff chugging and pummeling.

I would argue that A World Lit Only by Fire is even more pummeling - super raw, primitive and confrontational sound - I think Justin has described it as minimalist.... to me Streetcleaner comes across as atmospheric in comparison

In actuality, yeah you're right about Streetcleaner being more atmospheric than AWLOBF. I might even go far in saying that it's more droney as well. I think what I was getting at was to me at least, the riffs on AWLOBF wouldn't be far off from Streetcleaner if you remove all the atmosperic/drone elements.

Why does this hit me so hard emotionally? Something cuts deep with this album, it's weird...

well combined with the crushing existential angst which was already present on everything Godflesh has released, this album would seem to focus on the subject matters of having a family and being a father and shit like that and it isn't exactly happy musings if ya know what I mean so yeah doesn't seem weird at all to me to feel that way

I've literally just jammed this and AWLOBF this morning. This is a near perfect record, and it pains me that it was swept under the rug.

And it's a grower for sure, though it clicked with me pretty much straight away. First three songs on this are fucking immense.

I honestly didn't think they had another record of this calibre and quality in them.
