Really hoping this group drops a third record and ditches dumpy The Word Alive influences of their sophomore slump.

I didn't even check the sophomore after hearing a single lol, shit was terrible

Their second album ditched most of the heavy parts for slow and catchy ones. There are actually some really good vocal hooks; something this album lacks after track 4. There are some really good mellow/acoustic parts there too. I think if they can combine the best parts of both of these records I think they'll have a really good, balanced record.

"something this album lacks after track four"
This is patently false.

one of the band members said on reddit that the next album is more like this, more layered and guitar-heavy than their last

You're right, track 5 has a solid one I guess.
Good to hear that, heck. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with on LP3.

Nice, the next one should be pretty cool then. I like this one quite a bit. Gone In Your Wake was decent. I definitely didn't hate it as much as some other people, but this is still miles better.
A combination of the two could be pretty awesome.

new song is laughable, what an absolute waste of a vocalist

This album goes so hard. Dunno why they shifted directions so quickly.

they're still promising the new album will have TLYLTC vibes and that this is just the obligatory single. I hope they deliver.

single was meh.
@Heck obligatory to who though? I can't imagine they gained more fans through this stylistic change. Not poppy enough for the radio, but clearly alienated this entire base of fans.
All in all, I am going to hold firm to the opinion that this band was ruined because they toured with The Word Alive who made the same type of stylistic shift to no avail.

nah dude the reason all these phxc/mxc bands keep going this synthy pop-rock route is because that shit does get played on Sirius XM and gets promoted on streaming services. it is popular and they definitely have gained new fans.

Fuck all these bands going down the SiriusXMcore route

Their most played songs on Spotify are overwhelmingly off the first album. The first album is ahead of it too under popular releases so overall this is the more played album even today.

I like their new stuff tbh
I do need to check their debut again. I was very underwhelmed last time I listened to it
