yeah Arkhtinn's new album clips and it pretty much ruins it, even for a black metal demo. it takes you totally out of the music, like breaking the fourth wall.

persefone's shin-ken clips so much, it's so annoying, especially for an album that's actually great

i don't know, seems much overproduced and soulless to me, but i will keep listen

"as long as I can hear everything and it doesn't clip I'm not really bothered by meh production"
can u really hear everything perfectly at moderate volumes? if u could then it wouldn't be badly produced. the problem is u need to turn up the volume to hear any nuance
I haven't heard this yet but this was the problem with previous albums. I had to absolutely blast them to enjoy them which I don't want to have to do

even though this has discernible weaknesses in production, FLAC does make some amends and thankfully, I never had ears sensitized enough to give a shit anyway. Album is a serious cockgoblin of goodness besides, the new bassist has won me over, the instrumentation and vocals shaped in tasteful tandem, the transitions are smooth as they've ever been, songwriting otherwise well-realized; each movement never overstaying its welcome and encouraged at a delectable pace. my favourite by them but fuck, cant wait for the day when the violinist pisses off with his cleans and for them to hire someone with proper pipes.

"can you hear everything perfectly at moderate volume"
I can't imagine anyone saying that sentence without a Cruella de Ville voice.

Gave this album a whirl today and it's turning out to be another nope for me. It does have its moments, but in general the same old gripes I always had with this band just come back. Metal parts aren't oomphy enough, none of the riffs stick, the violins feel like they're just there to flower-up the sound but do nothing to add atmosphere...and then those clean vocals...I mean, I'm not really one to talk because I like many vocalists others find terrible, but holy fuck these clean vocals...have some dignity
|
| |
okay yea this is pretty wack. agreed with everything u mentioned there @thalassic
they've made the same album 3 times now with worse production each time. the opener for example is pretty much just Xenoflux 1.5

Excellent, another polarizing metal album

Yea this is the first time I've listened to the band and the bass and drum production seem a bit off. Other than that this is prog goodness so far

Basslines are insane, and I'm up for anything that has an audible bass. With that being said, I wish to be given examples of clearly and perfectly mixed and produced metal albums...
I don't hold this as an excellent mixed record, but I'm no expert... So please elaborate naysayers...
