Liked their last one, but this looks to be better. Will snatch it eventually. Iglooghost is too good right now.

I really love this band and this sounds interesting. But I just can't help, I don't feel it.

Don't get me wrong, this is their best since "Blue Sky Noise". But their songwriting after BSN hasn't impressed me. And this is no exception. The only song that I keep coming back to is "Flesh and Bone".

I can't explain why but this is the only album I've heard by them that I can say I enjoy the whole way through. It makes no sense, BSN and the earlier albums are all more widely acclaimed but whatever it is different they're doing here it finally hits the mark for me.

This has been my first Circa experience and I must say I'm quite impressed. By no means am I infatuated with what they going on here, but its definitely a great listen.

i'm with evokaphile here -- this is just very, very solid post-hardcore. They're at their best when they're more energetic. I love Rites of Investiture and Tunnel Vision. But the whole album grows on me with each listen. Probably a 3.9ish

If you squint, it is lol. I've been saying that since they announced the album. Not sure if it's just a coincidence or not.

After giving their whole discography a (admittedly quick by skipping parts) respin yesterday, the official order is: BSN > Descensus > The Amulet > Violent Waves > On Letting Go > Juturna

I was going to post an album order but then I listened to a few tracks from each album and realized how fantastic all of them are. On Letting Go has always been my favorite but beyond that they all have their own beauty to them.

Juturna is raw and it violently flows together. It's incredibly hard not to listen to the whole thing once you start.

On Letting Go is pretty much a perfect album from start to finish. It's my favorite from a thematic standpoint and it's the first thing that pops into my head whenever anyone mentions Circa Survive.

Blue Sky Noise is a giant earworm. "DIIIISAAAAPEEAR FROM PUUUBLIC PLAAACES!", "I TRIIIED SOO HAAAAARD TO BE WHAT YOU NEEEEDED!", "JUST BECAUSE WE'LL NEEEVER PAY THE RAAAANSOM". Also, Spirit Of The Stairwell is probably my favorite Circa song of all time.

Violent Waves is underappreciated. It's an atmospheric album that's not nearly as immediately gratifying as their other records. But songs like "Suitcase" and "Bird Sounds" are up the with the best Circa material. It's a slow, soothing burn of an album.

Descensus is a wonderful culmination of everything they'd done up until that point. It's probably their least consistent album in terms of its sound, but that's not a terrible thing when the quality of each individual track is so high. It has many standout moments be it the opening of Schema, the ending of Child Of The Desert, or all of Sovereign Circle.

The Amulet is smooth as silk and I have a feeling it'll be high up on most people's personal lists once it fully sinks in.
