The thing with Counterparts is if you're coming to them looking for a unique sound, you're not really going to find it. Plenty of other bands sound pretty much like this.
It's just that Counterparts does it better than all of them.

Pretty fucking sad that's the response for sharing an opinion on them. Maybe realize people can find shit overrated or just generally dislike something. Not directed towards you Julien considering you actually weren't a dick at all with your response.

the fact that you don't like this pretty much proves that you're a racist and a nazi sympathizer

The whole "Every song sounds practically the same" comment was pretty dumb tho. I mean I guess Soil, Wither, Jumping Ship, Bouquet, and Tragedy all sound the same right?

The keyword being practically. Sure those songs stand out a little more but honestly it's still really not enough for me to be interested in this band as a whole. One song is not going to help an album out if the rest of it really blends together. I shouldn't mean every song but most songs by this band has very little deviation in it for me to be interested or feel as I'm truly listening to anything different. I know other bands that do this too and it happens but Counterparts for me are just one of them that just doesn't do it for me when they do it.

Honestly, fearthyevil here has a point. I like counterparts a lot, but their evolution as a band has been painstakingly slow. If you're just giving them a once-over, I can see why you'd think all their shit sounds the same. TWFU was the first time I thought "these guys need to start switching it up a little or shit's gonna get stale." We'll see if this album is a step forward.

I disagree that they sound exactly the same from album to album. Obviously it all sits in the same general sonic space, but each album has a distinct tone to my ears. It's not like August Burns Red or something where all the songs from their last three albums could be shuffled around and it wouldn't make a difference.
But, obviously, if they just don't do it for you, that's that and it's totally fine.

What are you guys even talking about? Prophets sounds nothing like Currents, and Currents doesn't sound anything like TDBHAH. Only recently I'd say their sound has become pretty similar between releases (mostly between TDBHAH and Tragedy), while YNYA gives me a far more aggressive and an early 2000s metalcore vibe at times.

I was gonna make the argument that all the songs sound the same but then I remembered I also like August Burns Red lol

prophets and this are their only two albums that don't all blend together tbh

It's ok. I do like Prophets, but the rest of their albums are a blur.

Prophets is my favorite of theirs tbh

prophets is still their best
they struck a perfect blend of hardcore and metalcore, every album since has been great but it's becoming samey
they have a formula down though i guess

Never really understood the Prophets love tbh. Its just OK to me. Everything afterwards blows it out of the water.
