When you talk about the past

What are we talking of?

Did I let go too fast?

Was I holding on too long?

;_;

God I'm in love with this album.

This was really gorgeous at points but mostly it just glided by. A 3.5 is with the expectation that it will grow a bit (only listened twice), otherwise I'll bump this down. Isn't nearly as gripping as Lost In The Dream to me. I dunno, maybe this just had the misfortune of being released right around Brand New and Gang of Youths.

Have to say I thought the last three songs were boring on my first few spins then listened to them last thing at night yesterday with the lights dimmed and they came alive. The missus has demanded I play them same place same time the rest of the week.

This would be slightly better if it ended with Thinking of a Place, just from a length/pacing perspective but I still love those last 3 songs even though they do feel a bit like bonus tracks. (Particularly the last two.) Really though it has more to do with the fact that Thinking of a Place is such a masterpiece that anything that follows it is going to seem weaker by comparison than that those last three songs are weak in and of themselves.

No matter how you cut it though this is easily my AOTY so far and the only album with a chance of unseating it would be The National's.

I think this is a really well done record and I like this band a great deal, but I think its just missing a punch or two. The last two albums had more epic moments for me. It just doesn't have a Baby Missiles or Red Eyes or Ocean Between the Waves or Come to the City etc
