If you meant something other than what I ~heard~ then apologies, but your comments certainly seemed to convey a 'first = best' sentiment, which I see all the time.
yeah lol you hear that argument all the time that means it's the one I made. clearly what you quoted there shows me saying Incantation is definitely better because it was first (sarcasm). saying I hadn't heard it and I know it will be better was an educated guess based on having heard the new Father Befouled, and what Incantation's previous two were like - and now I've listened I stand by what I said 100%. there are plenty of Incantation imitators that blend their own style into it, which is not what Father Befouled do - I can give you some recs if you like because maybe you think that bands can only exist as either originals or imitations and there is no inbetween. You projecting your feelings towards what you 'see all the time' on what I'm saying (despite not saying nor meaning it) is pretty sad.

gj ignoring the last of those quotes
"there are plenty of Incantation imitators that blend their own style into it, which is not what Father Befouled do"
I didn't even make the claim that they did
"maybe you think that bands can only exist as either originals or imitations and there is no inbetween"
didn't say that either, and you follow that up immediately by saying i'm projecting lol

I have to disagree with the Dark Descent comment considering the past three years has seen them releasing quite a few albums I'd call "innovative" or at the very least, unique and standouts of the modern scene with Blood Incantation, Horrendous, Ghoulgotha, House of Atreus, Emptiness, Nox Formulae, Thantifaxath, Lantern, Mitochondrion, Adversarial, etc.
All of those bands listed are like a great tweaking of the past. Example, I definitely love Horrendous but lets face it, NWOBHM mixed with an older dm style (hardly innovative, just ridiculously catchy and fun). Won't deny I dislike any of those bands, in fact most of them rule. Not innovative however.

Predictable but solid as usual. The production is more polished than I was expecting, the drum sounds particularly good (especially the cymbals).

It's a hard grower.
These guys took a shower and released one of the best death metal albums of the year.

I hear you man.
Back in the days I despised these guys. Why listen to Golgotha or Mortal Throne of Nazarene if I have Realm of Chaos (their biggest influence btw)?
More recently, I learned to appreciate this band.
I think their first three releases remain untouchable, with all the filth we love, but I've learned to like all their albums over the years, especially the last three with McEntee on vocals.
McEntee decided to take a shower on this album and did well, in my opinion.
