They weren't planning to do Adultery. They talked about Sex Offender (Polkadot Cadaver), but as their back catalogue us now streaming it might have taken a back seat.

I missed them first time round, but became slowly obsessed following Sweet Nothings. Probably why I largely prefer the re-recordings, and Cult Classic has become a mainstay in the last few weeks!

I didn't find out about them till 2019 from what I can tell off here. This was the first thing I rated by them
Agreed. CC is awesome. I had no idea they were even working on anything either so it was a really nice surprise when I got an email from their bandcamp page that they released a new album

I find the re-recordings to be too polished and soft to listen to. Anarchists and Committed are my favorite DFD records and Adultery is a huge turning point in their catalog in terms of their style. There’s an intensity about the originals missing on the reduxes that just… miss me.
However they’ve broadened to a new market of listeners with their sound. Just speaking as a person pushing 40, I sympathize with the band mellowing their sound… it’s tough to bring the same intensity 25 years on.
I’ve spun the new record once and was surprised at how much they threw it back to their old heaviness. Sweet Nothings and Ad Nauseam we’re not very good save one or two songs on each.

I think if I'd been into them early 2000s (a 40+ here!), the reduxes might hit less. Ad Nauseam dipped after a while, tho Watching You and Baby Bones are incredible, but SN still keeps improving for me. CC didi kinda surprise with the heaviness, and the amount of thrashy vibes is also much appreciated. Just love this band!
