Ugh, this whole situation is absolutely awful. I remember think just a couple days ago how great a band like PWR BTTM is getting this much love and hearing from a lot of other LGBT people how much they mean to them. Hell, they we're starting to mean a hell of a lot to me for the similar reasons as them. Seeing how proud and outward with themselves they were gave me hope in a time that has left me wondering how accepting the world really is (horray for being gay in Mike Pence land).

I'm not sure if I can return to this album. I know the "separate art from artist" argument, but I feel like in this case it's not possible. Almost all of this record is based on giving hope to other queer people out there, especially songs like "Big Beautiful Day", but now that messages feels tainted. How can you say you want to fight for these people and represent them when you're part of the fucking problem?

I don't know, this has left me feeling confused and a bit lost on what to think. I wanted so bad for the allegations not to be true, but I'm becoming less and less sure. That statement didn't help a bit either.

I get setting up an e-mail. I only ready the pitchfork article, so I apologize if there are facts I'm missing, but it sounds like someone basically said they saw Ben make unwanted advances on people (which isn't okay). At least an e-mail account like that would let said people come forward in an anonymous and indirect way, right?

Is it not strange to anyone else that the only real claims lobbed into the public are by someone that wasn't allegedly harassed? I understand that's not just an easy thing to come forward with, but if this stuff was witnessed in public I can't imagine it was severe; again, I agree that any degree of sexual harassment is not okay.

I don't know. I'm not trying to sound like an insensitive or assuming prick either, so sorry if that's how it sounds- I am not even well-informed regarding the situation. Just trying to open some dialogue here.

you're right it's not easy to come forward, most victims don't. it's hard to do, especially if they don't think they will be believed or if te person who victimized them is of note. most women are blamed when they are assaulted or raped so why go through the trouble?

as for not imagining it's severe - people don't notice or people think it's wanted even if it's not. i've seen guys try to finger girls at shows, it's not unheard of and it's not unheard of for people to say nothing. again, they're probably seen as wanting it, especially if the person is in a band like pwr bttm.

we all hope it's not true and there isn't a lot of evidence, but we need to take accusations seriously, no matter who it is or how much evidence they have.

I agree with that. I just like to give people the benefit of the doubt because the accused are affected as well, but an allegation from someone involved diminishes that right away. I can't even imagine the courage it would take to come forward as a victim though, which is why I think setting up a mediated contact system is a smart idea.

this hits the nail on the head for me. don't think i can continue listening to them after this, just really disappointing news overall.

@Jiggly It's becoming more and more seeming that Ben (and maybe Liv) has been guilty of sexually abusing a lot of people and generally being everything they've said they're against.

I have a trans friend that absolutely rails on this guy for being a neo-nazi rapist, with a photo of him posing with a swastika and screenshots of him bullying trans people. Any truth to that or is it just routine LGBT sensationalism?
