agree that it is a gateway album, maybe that is what makes me say that, first impressions keep you know, so I guess I do not want people to define a genre by it, as long as it leaps them to find different parts of the genre,

also I remember when this came out, and my first thought was not this is a punk album, just hard rock, just like the others of the day like RHCP, soundgarden, Pumpkins, different sound of course, but it did not scream pure punk, my own thoughts on it, I guess in retro, if I heard it for the first time now, might have a different take onit

i mean if u want. i will concede that it's pretty much a given that some of the genres are way past their prime (cough prog), but there's plenty of others with artists still innovating, not to mention the countless other genres that you didn't list

prog is not dead, their are new traditionalist that come out that are cool and I like the prog metal stuff, it is descent



there is so much older stuff that I have yet to find/ listen to that I will never be caught up
