HAPPY SAD used to be my favorite Buckley but after this (long overdue) latest discog run. this takes the throne. Younger-me was probably put off by the avant-weirdness of this (especially in contrast to the somewhat inviting and normal-looking cover art) but it is goddamn perfect.

Jungle Fire is next level.
|
| |
so this is Buckley Sr., I take it?
|
| |
indeed
and just as good a voice
|
| |
Avant-Folk tho oooo
should listen
|
| |
This is arguably far more “avant-“ than any albums preceding it, except for intermittent moments on LORCA maybe, but this is still in a whole other realm of comparative experimentation. They’re all good/great, though, even the more conventionally folky stuff.

Yes! Goodbye and Hello is amazing
|
| |
good Beatles song yea
|
| |
My personal ranking of his first six albums would be
Starsailor >
Lorca = Happy Sad >
Goodbye and Hello >
Blue Afternoon >
debut
Honestly can’t decide between LORCA and HAPPY SAD, they’re both incredible in completely different ways.

| |
That's basically my ranking, except Lorca >/= Starsailor
