Never watched todd before, his critiques aight tho

vaxxi tbh the whole thing you're going for with the "they're trying and failing to make serious music now" only works because you assume that the genres they're making now is any more serious or legitimate than what they made 2 years ago. what I'm trying to say is that "tropical house" or whatever you call this is just as forgettable and cliche as big-room. in three years we will laugh at "closer" just as much as we laugh at "animals" now. it's all just as poorly written.

don't let me down has some cred as a club banger (despite that lame ass anticlimactic drop), but otherwise this is straight horseshit

Closer isn't shit it's just ehh
|

Decided to give "Closer" as close listen for the first time, and I can see why it gets so much shit. That pre-chorus is so shitty, it feels like it lasts forever, and that one synth they use on the hook sounds terrible. Who told they producers they should sing?

Yeah Halsey saves the song from being completely shit. The dude's vocals are so flat and terrible, and the lyrics are laughable. Still, I have no problem hearing it on the radio.
