Have you heard the solo on December Flower? Your mind will be blown

I mean, when Jesper left it was a clear sign the band was spiraling down a path of shit. Surprised they're still a band honestly.

The solo that neither Glenn or Jesper performed? Yes and it's great.
I take every new In Flames album with an open mind because I learned when I first started really listening to the band 11 years ago that they were never going to make anything resembling their first five albums. I've enjoyed the Sounds of a Playground Fading and A Sense of Purposes (Sirens Charm was kind of bad aside from a couple of songs) and this is not completely awful. This band has always been about the riffs for me and this album has some pretty good melodic riffs sprinkled with some of the best solos they have had since Clayman (i.e. In My Room)

Who did play that solo btw?

Fredrik Johansson of Dimension Zero, not to be confused with the former Dark Tranquillity guitarist of the same name.

Hearing formerly great melodeath bands shit themselves is not a good feeling.

I think I must have a higher tolerance for their new stuff because I got into them through Soundtrack to Your Escape

the 1.8 avg for this album is a lil harsh. this is a very hard 2

lol didn't even realize that was a guest solo. And to be honest I really like their whole discography all the way up through SOAPF. I just think they shed any last ounce of interesting songwriting they had left, there are a few moments on this and Siren Charms that I like but overall they're very boring at best.
And Hellscythe, STYE is awesome. One of my favorites actually.

I think it's better than Siren Charms. Then again, that one was my least fav In Flames album so that doesn't say a whole lot.

if you think comparatively, the average isn't really that harsh
this band did write TJR, Colony, and Whoracle

Such a shame... I would've loved to re-visit this genre. I digged all their albums up to Come Clarity, but after that they've started to fade away.
Very good review though.

When I first looked up IF I listened to their post Clayman stuff and thought wtf is this hype about. Come Clarity is decent though.

When i heard the single 'the truth' i was not happy. But i have to say i really like the cd. Heard it a few times now and i think it's pretty good
It's different than their early stuff. But some people keep complaining about it. They should listen to other bands, which still make that music. In Flames is doing what they like and the should do that.
