I don't generally get scared at Horror games, so I can't really use scare factor in my likes or dislikes of a Horror game. Which is funny because Horror games are some of my favorite video games ever. I've played just about 90+ in my lifetime lmao

Horror games really don't scare me either. I'm playing Visage atm and it's definitely got a few jump scares out of me. It's worth playing but the sanity meter is total bullshit and ruins a lot of the immersion. It's always hard for people to come up with good fail states for the pt clones. I think the horror genre in general needs fresh ideas, silent hill 2 came out two decades ago and it still hasn't been usurped as the gem of the genre.

For me, as long as I am able to "play" the game, I will rarely ever be scared of horror games tbqh.
It's kinda why I get very easily scared of Horror films, because I can't control what goes on in the movie, I can only sit by and watch.

Game had its issues, mainly the clunky af controls and the awful combat system.
Still, definitely the scariest Silent Hill game and one of the best soundtracks to boot.

It's definitely one of my fav SH soundtracks along with 2, 3, and Downpour

I think that's the biggest factor right there. It's easy for a game to lose its punch if you don't feel in danger of losing progress which was probably the scariest thing about the og resident evils. But if a games too hard it'll just annoying and you'll probably end up cheesing the game. Like when knowing Mr x can't enter save rooms in RE2make so you see him aggressively pantamiming his way toward you while the door closes on his face. Still a great game, and a great idea but he's still bound by in game logic.

The best thing about RE3make was watching streamers shit their pants at Nemesis making a full on sprint towards them in the early game lmao

The room has the best atmosphere of any SH game

Great atmosphere, premise, pacing, characters, plot and ost, it's a great experience despite the control clunkiness

Never understood the hate for tank controls, I’ve always enjoyed them. It’s part of the reason why I think the first 4 play and feel so great

Man, that new ps+ service comes out in just over a month that let's you play most PS2 classics, but you guys are really making me want to just use an emulator and go through these again lol

I still rock my original ps2 to play these haha I have the 4th on pc mind, but it feels so much nicer on its original console

Tank controls are very unintuitive in design but I grew up with them and don't have that much of an issue using them to this day

Yeah man the original hardware plays them the best. Emulation is still pretty solid but there's something noticeably off. If Konami doesn't allow these to be included in the lineup of PS2 games I'm going to be so pissed

It’s Konami so I wouldn’t be surprised.
I haven’t played these in a couple years, I’m might go through them soon. I don’t really play video games much these days, but I always go back to these and the mgs series every couple years because they’re all timeless
