I'm a little tired so some of the longer sections kinda phased through me but this definitely feels like a huge step up from this album in terms of both the hooks and the songs being structured more interestingly.

the chorus in Everyday Ghosts was good but felt out of place at the end and wow I actually can't even think of how Life of Vermin sounded at all
Anchor and Geronimo were both live highlights when I saw them and they were fantastic here
Swarms was ridiculous. All of Chromology was great but that Sax/Trumpet duet? fuck man. muy perfecto.

after 1 listen, this might be their best album. they still haven't topped Blood on the Radio but as a whole this is truly something special. FXMLDR might still be my favorite just cuz that's easily Sal's best hook since Maps. not sure how I feel about Terraformer as the closer. great song but it doesn't have a sense of finality to it.
anyway, i need to stop rambling and sleep. probably a 4.5? could end up being my aoty? we'll find out

Kind of bizarre but I was listening to this and thinking they sounded like a prog-Five Iron Frenzy. The vocalists are nearly identical and the horn section really sells it.

I was just listening to Close To The Edge by Yes (God tier album). Listen to the section on Siberian Khatru (6:15 onwards) and tell me that doesn't sound like a song from this album. It's uncanny!
