it's not really dsbm-y at all; it just has some cool really shrieky screams here and there and a generally sad atmosphere.

just listened to a few tracks and you're right, but its actually not rlly my thing. i don't like the production all that much i mean guitar tone is pretty nice but the drumming sounds kinda shit both as in how it's mixed in into the album and the performances themselves. i see why people dig this tho

if a brutal death band had a dead kid on the cover i'm pretty sure no one would bat an eye

music is pretty standard but alluring and beautiful all the same

I really love how shoreless builds into devour [2]

Actually took me a few listens to realize that the main guitar line of Shoreless is also towards the end of Devour.

I really want to check this band out, but I simply cannot stand looking at that album cover of the girl, let alone owning a physical copy.
If there are alternatives to listening to it (Spotify and the likes) without ever looking at the cover again then I'd gladly check this out.

Sounds like I'd really enjoy this but I can't bring myself to listen to it due to the album cover choice they made. Alt artwork wouldn't make any difference. I guess I have heightened sensitivity having a son a little younger than the girl depicted.

Must be hard listening to death metal and grind, then.

i don't know, it feels pretty different, the gory and brutal nature of death metal and grind makes it feel dehumanising, makes it obvious it's just fantasy at work

this doesn't feel like that at all

Yeah, album is pretty solid alright. Glad to be able to add this to my Spotify playlists without a turned stomach.

Agree with Noctus. Would I watch a movie that depicts death? Fairly difficult to avoid in 2016. Would I watch a snuff movie? No is the answer of course.

The artwork is exploitative, crass, tasteless and upsetting (to me) in the extreme. I've read their pretentious justification and what they were aiming for could have been done in a million different ways.

Still, it's got people talking and got them notoriety which I'm sure was the aim when they were sat discussing whether it was a good idea or not.

Checking out the track Thirst and I'm digging it. Great thick sound but also melodic. Pretty sweet
