It's takes away alot of his voice imo.

gave these 3 listens now, and between this and La Gargola, all newer Chevelle really makes me want to do is listen to older Chevelle
giving Sci-Fi a spin rn and absolutely loving it
I hope so hard that sooner or later the band return to a more melodic approach, it suits them much better than this sound imo

Yeah, agreed, their older work is much better.

Love the bass production on this album. Probably the best it has sounded for the band

I kinda like that his voice is more in the background, because honestly its starting to sound a bit weak :/ Maybe its just the lack of strong melodies.

I'll always prefer the bass tone on TTOT.

One of the reasons why Sci-Fi Crimes is probably my favorite album by them.

Easily second fave for me behind Vena Sera, which is the best of both worlds

Sci-Fi is also my favorite. Vena Sera is a bit of a love hate thing for me, because its good but its sooooo overproduced.

I'll never forget the first time I heard these and thinking "sweet, MJK has a new project!"

What I liked about SFC so much was how diverse it was in the Chevelleography at the time. It was the first time they really started to experiment with their sound and it came out amazing. Listening to "This Circus", and "Roswell's Spell" right now and man... it blows a lot of these songs right out of the water.
