I can't remember how these songs sound, but I can remember how much I hate them

C'mon - this is just a product of Sputnik being snobby; this is a solid EP

I never got the appeal of this band. Still don't.

their debut is supposed to be one a 00's classic, I jammed it so many times and never found anything significant that would justify its status

The critics and their fans just constantly wanked them off because of the debut and I just didn't/don't get it. It was tolerable, I guess.

Their debut isn't groundbreaking, but it's just catchy and well written rock. At the time it was one of the Rock records coming out that seemed to actually have some edge to it. I mean seeing the band live back then, they were one of the few new bands that seemed actually dangerous. With Julian trashed on stage, depressed looking, smoking and singing these lyrics.
Also the guitar work is amazing on there and a lot of strokes albums. Catchy and well written riffs. It's a nostalgic thing for me though. When I hear that sweet riff on 'Someday' chorus, I feel great.

Image over substance. Seemingly this band's MO.

Well, yeah.

It depresses me how much the success of rock bands depends on their image and attitude rather than the actual quality of their music.

That's also the case with other styles of music, not just rock. An image is easier to sell than sound.

Damn, I thought Comedown Machine was boring...
Such a shame, band rules up until that album.

This looks like a teenager's Facebook status from the mid 2000s
