Aside from being completely spaced on on some sort of psychedelic hallucinagen(?), I'm curious as to whether or not your Tom in disguise.
It's possible. That would explain why he's using the same douchebag attitude to explain to us that we need several college professors, a team of forensic detectives, and enough LSD to OD an elephant to break through The De Longe Code (TM).
The funny thing is... that joke also works on another level in that like AVA, The Da Vinci Code is ridiculously hyped up, but boring as hell. This Message Edited On 06.01.06

True. ^
If he didn't hype it like he did, and his voice wasn't the worst in modern music, I'd see the good in this. Sorry to say that there isn't much.

i just got the album and......TOM!,GO BACK INTO BLINK 182! i like 'it hurts' though

Oh man, here comes another rant on Tom's faux smart lyrics.
He trys to hard to make them sound like a poem and he hardly ever take rests, untill the enevitable echo section. This makes them sound horribly forced. The lyrics attempt to be romantic/dark which throws me as a fun Blink fan, but are horribly stoopid/cheesy which throws me as a serious Blink fan. They just suck in general. *Thinks about lowering rating to 1.5*

I really miss tom's blink days, prior to the self titled album, of course, i just miss blink could make me laugh, while this everything i have heard from this album is so depressing, IMO. Plus 44, although depressing (but to a smaller degree), seems to be an overall more solid side project of blink.
|
| |
Plus 44 seems wicked decent. Have you abandoned reviewing this Iluvatar? Because it needs a negative review.
|
| |
i am really excited for plus 44, the songs i've heard are great, i downloaded 1 of them so far, but they still are a little depressing, considering the backgrounds of the members of the band. Mark and Travis were in Blink and Carol was in Get the Girl, both rather energetic and happy sounding bands. Plus 44 is also much different from blink, they have some electronica, so thats not bad. I do like Tom's guitar stuff though, i actually try learning alot of the parts from the earlier blink albums.

Self titled is much better than any of Blink's other stuff, including this.
|
| |
I can see this being a difficult review, but I can't imagine it being more difficult than White People.

i really liked your review, you gave alot of information. Those lyrics make me feel sick though. This Message Edited On 06.09.06

Awesome review. This band sucks.

I was reading an interview of Tom Delong about this in my newest Guitar World and I wanted to rip of the magazine. I'm thinking about rating this a 1 just because of the bullshit he was saying.

rate it a one, thats truly what it deserves. This Message Edited On 06.14.06

I watched Tom DeDouche rant off on some interview about how his band is some of the best music in a decade and how his band sounds like Pink Floyd... I don't know what albums he was listening to when he made this fucked up decision.
|
| |
the album is solid, but tom was i tihnk a tad excited about how it was sounding and made those comments.
his lyrics are getting better though.
|
| |
is his vocals getting better?
|
| |
Nope. His lyrics are better, but his vocals are worse.
|
| |
I read the article again and this time I really did rip the magazine up that's the first time I've done that since I was reading an interview with Ashlee Simpson.

- The drums are awesome, and you don’t even notice that Travis is gone.
GO DIE NOW! Willard sucks! He has to comparison to Travis.
So what if tom said a lot of *hit? The album is still decent. The adventure and Valkarie Missile are my favorites. I think the drumming was the low point of the album. I think Willard tried to copy Travis and failed miserably.

| |
I was disappointed, but I had that one coming thanks to Delonge's hype, but anyway quite a nice album. Enjoy this more than Blink I think.
