reviews for Migration have started rolling in and apparently vox will be completely absent "due to last minute unforeseen circumstances" and those CoL/Palm Reader features will have the only vocals on the album. not a detractor by any means, and i still cannot wait for friday.

Well dang. They don't use vocals a ton but I love it when those parts come up.

That’s a little weird to hear but yeah when I think about it many of their songs are purely instrumental even on the last album so I’m sure if the music is good it’ll go unnoticed.

there's also a podcast the band's bassist (Tom Begley) did an interview for, discussing the new record and a lot of other things. i haven't heard the podcast yet, but there also seems to be some contribution from Endon on the new record?

hhhhh okay in that podcast they talk about there being a .4 EP of material and such that's gonna be recorded this summer-ish and hopefully released sometime next year alongside a double album of 12 tracks (atm) in the pipeline!

Thanks for the information brother. Solid.
|

Wait...they said there's another album from Bossk coming next year and it's a double?!
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.0
not quite! i meant that the EP will hopefully be out by next year (2022) and i think Tom said that the double album probably will release a year after that (2023),
basically expect new Bossk much sooner than the gap we had with Audio Noir and Migration.

I had been wondering what was going on with that Endon thing - I want to say that maybe a few years ago now they posted a picture of a Bossk / Endon collaboration or split or something on a japanese leak site. Could never find where it had come from.
edit: lol I had posted this on page three of this review in 2018:
"i’m pretty sure bossk just announced a split record with endon on instagram. they posted an image on their story of a japanese file sharing website with the file name BOSSK_ENDON.zip and a shushing emoji"

yeah it just seems odd to me that the press release for Migration didn't mention anything about the vocalist's absence or Endon's involvement.

I didn't know there was new stuff, I'm gonna jam now for sure. Also, this album is fucking awesome

new album leans a fair bit more on the ambient side than this, but i can appreciate the change of pace cos it makes those moments like "Lira" all the more crushing.

No. On purpose too.

We will see how that strategy pans out for them when this rumoured “second part” album comes out. For now it kinda feels like they had an albums worth of material and thought they’d be clever and stretch it to two with some ambient tracks to fill in the space.
Still come back to Migration though. Those two tracks with vocals are outstanding.

as far as i know, what's next in the pipeline is an EP and then the next LP which is due to be a double album. dunno about Migration having a "second part".
