Weird summary because the only time he actually sounded remotely Floydian was pre-2000s.

There's some Floyd in The Incident and Grace For Drowning I'd say.
|
| |
Seem to remember he rips off Floyd pretty blatantly on a song or two from Grace For Drowning.
|
| |
Yeah, but not not nearly enough warrant calling him the "21st Century Pink Floyd." Up The Down Stair and The Sky Moves Sideways are clearly more in that vein.
|
| |
The Sky Moves Sideway's title track is yeah, not so much Up the Downstair, that's more influenced by psych in general than Pink Floyd specifically.
|
| |
I haven't heard it in forever so it's entirely possible I'm saying nonsense.

On top of that, Time Flies has almost the same guitar riff as Dogs, as well as the "and after a while" line.
|
| |
Lol the point is that that ripping off another band doesn't make you a "21st Century [insert band name]" it just makes you a lazy songwriter.

Time Flies is the only time I'd say he ever ripped off Floyd and even then it's not that much of a big deal. People seem to forget that being influenced by does not equal ripping off an artist.

I was really only referring to Time Flies there, but I agree with you.

Steven Wilson's lyrics have never exactly been amazing but there's a sincerity and earnestness to them that I really like.

Wilson's lyrics were always good for me... I don't know, they sound so natural, not poetic, just... what a person would say at a particular time, when he wants to express some emotions/ideas to another person near them.

Lol at that lyric xD
You can definitely call that a lazy song writer for sure in some cases, but there's just so many songs and artists out there now that you could write the same riff by accident and not even know it. So that's why I always look at something for what it is.

yeah, 'bout that, it was in 2007, I think it's started to wear off, so get over it.
|

Wilson's lyrical peak was Signify, I think. He went off the deep end around 2007, but is slowly getting better now.

I can't talk about a peak. I think all his albums except of The Incident are lyrically good.
|
| |
Fear was his worst album lyrically seems to be the general consensus.

Album Rating: 3.5
Yet, it has one of the highest averages of his work. So people definitely forgive that flaw.

who says the general consensus is right? Besides, that's what I believe.... Fear has lyrics that are a bit funny, but the man is talking from the perspective of a disturbed teenager. His lyrics should put across that feeling of cheesy emotionality.
Also, the line ''And I'm trying to forget you. And I know that I will in a thousand years or maybe a week.'' sounds so frank and barren of all emotion that I cannot but stand up and shout ''You're pure genious!''
