Decent album, but definitely lacks a lot of the more technical parts from The Discovery and even TWDA.

This album is actually making me want to check out TWDA again tbh

I've been jamming this a little. It's not bad. Some of the vocals are a little annoying, but I like the music.

I feel that their vocalist grows into a bigger beast with every album. At this point, when I actually pay attention to it, it's almost like this guy sounds awkwardly death metal for a dude within a djent/deathcore project. Not dissing or anything, not saying it's a bad fit or it doesn't sound good, it's actually sounding pretty cool in this album since the parade has gone up in that regard, with all those epic effects and such.

On the contrary, my girlfriend came home while I was playing this and she said he almost sounds like the guy from linkin park sometimes. She has no idea how much damage she has done to me.

@TheMoreira I totally agree with your sentiment about the vocalists. They're really what make this record sound huge. For instance, the last 40 seconds or so of Goddess of the Dawn is a prime example of Ronnie trying something completely different. It's almost black metal with a mid/lower ranged register.

Sorry for the double post, but I also really enjoy the fact that the vocalists bounce back between one another instead of Joe being more of an echo to what Ronnie says. It sounds really refreshing and I'm glad they've both tried new things on this.

Fully back this up mate. Since The Discovery this has been their greatest asset in terms of vocals. And both seem to have improved immensely over time, they're actually trying to better themselves each release. Good stuff.

Yeah the dual vocalist approach really helps this album. Joe's vocals on the chorus of Warlords is great, and the chorus of Goddess of the Dawn gets stuck in my head daily.

This clicked with me today. There really is no bad song on the record and I am actually quite impressed by how consistent tracks 1-7 are.
I honestly think that everyone looks at this band with a negative slant and that'll probably follow them their entire career.
