Both have amazing drumming performances, but I think his drumming on here is less show-off and more pay-off, it never ceases to blend perfectly with each song. But then again, both are stellar albums with stellar drumming attatched to them.

I think that it's very difficult to realistically contrast the S/T performance and AE performance, because I think while Austin has always been a phenomenal drummer, he has really grown in other areas. To me, I think it shows on the S/T where his drumming stood out the most in comparison to the rest of the music, whereas here he does a stellar job, but it doesn't necessarily make anything take a backseat to it.

The drums are fucking amazing in some areas and laughable in others. Some of his fills are set on repeat and I find myself asking when he will change it up a bit from album to album.
But the real reason I'm commenting is that I wanted to just say the last half of this is amazing and the first few songs are meh.
