Metalcore definitely has potential, but it's often ignored due to the bands that don't try something new. The Royal are definitely a noteworthy act in that field.
From what I've heard these guys are just a guilty pleasure.

Man, the term "guilty pleasure" as applied to music really bothers me. You shouldn't feel guilty for liking something. So you like to listen to something, big whoop. If someone else judges you for liking it, it's their fault for being a shallow dink.

I describe a musical guilty pleasure as something that isn't good in a professional, critical light, but is enjoyable to the listener nonetheless.
Hell, I listen to plenty of stuff that would get panned critically.
