album is from my dad's point of view

I heard Empty Days, liked it a lot, then realized that they were somehow rehashing that story on Letters Home, then gave up. Can't believe they tried to stretch it even further.

The more LPs they churn out, the more infuriated I get

I was pissed off with Letters Home, because it continued the story, but as soon as I stopped being pissed off (which took me like 2 years) I started to enjoy it. Really like this one as well, tbh.

Defeater has become a parade, something incredibly boring centered around one theme

No idea these guys were releasing anything; kinda grew off them, although have some great memories of Travels - basically introduced me to hardcore 5 years ago or something.

Enjoyed the review - was a fun read

"In retrospect Defeater were never very good. They're a slightly above average hardcore band with a smoke and mirrors gimmick that early on got them a lot of mileage disguising their repetitive songwriting and lyricism."
Na dude, Lost Ground and, to a lesser extent, Travels, are really good albums. The narrative isn't THAT distracting.
Only thing from Letters Home that was good was Bastard, so I don't have high hopes for this.

Yea I certainly don't think this is as bad as everyone's making it out to be.
The production's a little wonky though; too many lows.

Pretty sure "I WAS A GOOD MAN" and "FORGIVE ME, MY FATHER" are forever etched into my brain after giving this a few listens.
