Doesn't even feel like pop-punk at all to me. They're like a more laidback version of Tigers Jaw.

This isn't a pop punk album, that's why it doesn't feel like one.

not one thing that even resembles pop punk here except maybe the lyrics on IWHYIIC

I think the songwriting has a lot of traces in it of at least Hotelier-ish emo/pop-punk. Even if the instrumentation is lightyears away from it.

Huh, I don't find them to be very abrasive at all. Not sure what you mean. Better than a lot of the vocals in emo or w/e.

I love hotelier but their style had to grow on me. I still get emo vibes from this album but by no means the same type of emo as the hotelier. Magnolia was closer to that (though still really different)

I'm inclined to agree; if you imagine this thing without the reverb and effects it'd definitely resemble that "emoish" stuff

I wish they'd stuck to their genre though, there's hardly any pop punk of the tier they were putting out. I mean this is really good and all but there's already a ton of bands that do this sound and really well as well

i still don't get all the hate on magnolia. it grew on me so much and became one of my most listened to albums from that year. the whole apathetic vibe of the vocals mixed with the super well written endings of songs just went so well together

Didn't realize people didn't like Magnolia. I love that album, honestly I might like it more than this record even though both are pretty perfect. It's just a bit more energetic and I dig its lyrics a tad more.
