That average should be higher. Why are people giving this a 2.5?
Also just realized that there's no tracklist. I fixed it though.

I was extremely disappointed with this. Very homogenous and pretty awful lyrics

Yeah there's really nothing too great or unique about this - it's just paint by numbers modern "post-hardcore".

Nerve Endings would fit right in on BMTH's most recent.
And Restless' chorus sounds like it would be a Search the City song.
Neither of which are bad things.

Like I said previously ToonDude, forget the average. Maybe take the median rating which is about 3.98 if my maths is correct.
Thanks for fixing the tracklist. Don't know how I missed that.
Disagree about it being homogeneous ProjectFreak, although if they had the ability to put a true ballad on there, then they probably should have. The more accessible 1st half is in fair contrast to the (relatively) more diverse latter half. Personally, I liked the lyrics for the most part. Nothing earth-shattering, but relatively relateable and they flowed well.
Is it unique? Nope, not really. But albums shouldn't just be rated on their originality or influence. Music can be enjoyed too. And this is miles better than most of their contemporaries imo.
Ooh dmp, you just reminded me about Search The City. Hoping they release their next LP by years-end.

Such a good band. Them, Conditions, and Anberlin all have that samey sound, but also very distinguishing in their own way. Which is always great. I also didn't even know they were making a new album, I'm still surprised to see Flight existing, haha.

Well, Conditions is unfortunately no longer. Neither are Anberlin. And if you throw Life on Repeat into the mix, then they're also gone. Hmmm, not looking good.

I should have used the past tense there, haha. But yeah. STC already went on hiatus once, wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again since they haven't really had any news in almost a year now.
Never listened to Life On Repeat, but since they were thrown into the conversation here, I'll have to check them out.

Definitely do so... They're fantastic.
Otherwise, thanks for depressing me. :-(

Aw damn, I didn't mean to!
Well, if you like bands like that. Check out Kingsfoil, they are a little different. But still in that genre. Plus they have a great bass line. This is my favorite song by them

Nice enough song, but I don't think I'd put them in the same style of sound at all. Kingsfoil sound much softer and more suited for radio.

definitely disregard the average, it's too high.
is this shit going to become emery 2.0?
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.4
Haha. More like Emery 5.0

Album Rating: 2.5
See the thing is, Emery is amazing and this band is...not

Album Rating: 4.4
Hey, I wasn't the one comparing them to Emery... or giving them a 5 rating.

Well I'd agree with you there about KF, some of their heavier songs have that sound. I suppose they have more of a Copeland sound to them.

Album Rating: 4.4
Yeah, more Copeland & Jack's Mannequin than anything post-hardcore related.

after all the hype from this review this really does just seem like 'paint by numbers "modern post hardcore"', pretty disappointed... this high pitched style of singing doesn't really do anything for me; it's such a genre trademark that there's no real innovation to it... and the lyrics are really, really poor.

i'm not comparing their sound to emery, i'm comparing the potential for sputnik to overhype a mediocre post-hardcore record
staff giving out a 4+ to a p-hxc means the whole site collectively loses their ability to think
letlive., a lot like birds...

Somewhat homogeneous and unoriginal, but overall a very solid debut. Excited to see what these guys do in the future.
The production seems a bit flat, though; the guitars have very little punch.
Should hold me over until Pierce the Veil finally does something.
