The intro of In Times reminds me of Beneath The Mire by Opeth

Yeah I can hear that a little bit.

Albums growing ever so slightly on me. Still a solid 3.5 tho

That 'come and see the silence' segment in Building With Fire rules so hard.

I've currently only heard it once.. need to listen many more times before scoring, but my first impressions are that it's another winner. The consistent quality over their long career is nothing short of remarkable. I can only really think of Neurosis as another band going so long with such quality in extreme metal.

For me Opeth and Mastodon have dropped the ball in recent years, but Enslaved still right up there.

Anyway it's early days and my opinion is bound to change with time but I'd say I think this may be on par with Ritiir but not as good as Ruun, Axioma, or Isa. Or the legend that is FROST.

that riff at ~6:30 into one thousand years of rain is so fucking epic jesus christ

usually i dont like clean vocals like this especially when they overpopulate an album but they work here

don't get the dislike these vocals get at all. they are beautiful and serve as a perfect opposite pole to these guttural screams

i can completely understand the dislike the cleans get considering i am the kind of person that normally hates cleans like this. not sure why they dont bother me here to be honest.

actually come to think of it, the cleans on Daylight in the second half of the song sound strikingly similar to Wavering Radiant era Aaron Turner cleans, thats kinda cool

4.5? damn.

im hesitant to check this, cuz i thought their last two albums were dreadfully boring. if this is something new though... maybe i'll give it a shot.

Have only heard one other album by these guys, but this one in particular sounds a lot like Deliverance/Ghost Reveries by Opeth. Some really good songwriting, but I was NOT expecting the common use of clean vocals.

This is a lot more fast paced than RIITIIRR and Axioma, and especially the few from before it. This blends black metal with that style really well
