No its true, if your offended by offensive beliefs in a black metal bands members then fuck off back to pop music. there is a subgenre call national socialist black metal, if you dont think there are controversial beliefs in BM then you need to recheck your facts.

Nobody said there arent you fucking idiot.

Sorry for accusing you of something you never said, my comments where badly worded, and I apologise, the point being is that refusing to listen to a band over the beliefs of a member is stupid.
I didnt come here trying to start an argument, lets just move on.

Its cool, i shouldnt have called you an idiot. But nobody was saying anything about not listening to bands because the members have offensive beliefs. this conversation has just kind of lost its train of thought.

Black metal reminds me of hardcore/punk in that it's extremely anarchistic, to deny there's no ideology is ignorant of what black metal truly is.
|
| |
Black metal was intended to have lofi production, never mainstream, ugly, unwelcoming and just plain fking evil. This is just scraping the surface.
So bands like Carach Angren, Wolves in the Throne room, Cradle of Filth, Deafheaven etc etc are bastardizations of what black metal stands for, it's essentially black metal for people who don't really like black metal or metal in general.

There are ideologies in black metal, but ideology doesnt determine the genre. Hardcore has all kinds of different ideologies. Youve got straight edge, posi, anarchist, skinhead, and on and on and on. Yet all the hardcore bands with those ideologies are still considered hardcore.

You keep talking about what black metal is intended for. Luckily not all bands give a shit what its "supposed" to sound like or what its supposed to stand for. I like that there are some bands that defy the boundaries.
|
| |
"Ideology doesnt determine the genre"
I never said that
Well you're welcome to classify this as black metal but I don't agree with it and i'm not the only one. This is exactly why there's a divide within the black metal community.

"it's essentially black metal for people who don't really like black metal or metal in general"
Dumb statement btw, i know there are plenty of people on this site who like those bands but also like the classics and more "kvlt" black metal. You seem really narrow minded.
|
| |
It's true, most people who have Wolves in the Throne room rated 5's will deny 1st wave black metal is real black metal.
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.0
Thats semantics. I still enjoy "1st wave black metal", so your point is moot.
|
| |
You yourself deny Celtic Frost as black metal but you'll classify this and all those aforementioned bands as black metal, it's ludicrous.
