Clashing polyrhythmic passages put Periphery’s recent double album escapades to shame
Agree hard. Spinning this now and I really enjoy it so far.

Glad this is picking up a bit of steam, the band worked super hard on the album and definitely deserve it. It can be frustrating to set aside enough time to listen through fully, but the mellow second disc shaking up the pace does help repeated listens a whole lot, even if it's weaker overall than the first

''It can be frustrating to set aside enough time to listen through full''
Definitely, but this is worth it for sure.

It's a long release, sure, but there's so much that's just right about this.

My thoughts at first. Didn't give up on it. Now I think it's one of the best on the album.

Well, it probably is, or they wouldn't give it so much space.

Great album...I agree though Drpibb, that 23 minute song is a bit much, but it hasn't grown on me yet like it did for you. That is my only complaint about this album. If they had taken the best parts of that song and condensed it down this would be a 5/5 for me.

Yea, my initial reaction to the album was really lackluster for a few reasons: First, I was really underwhelmed by the vocals because of how stellar Jim's work was with Caligula's last album. Second, I felt the song structures weren't varied enough for what I was expecting. And finally, I was overwhelmed with the huge amount of content over both discs.
I've been spinning it since the 18th last month and it started to finally click with me only a couple of days ago. Definitely a grower for me.

I don't like the first side that much, a 3.5 for me. The songs are great but could be shortened a lot. Not much going on each time, making it sound a bit dull. This actually describes it perfectly:
'' Second, I felt the song structures weren't varied enough for what I was expecting''
However, despite what you guys say, I like the second disc more, their softer side is something I really dig.

Second disk was cool for a few tracks but the constant mellow track after mellow track got really boring imo. 2nd disk is
probably around a 3 in my book.
