i can see why people dont like spencer's voice. especially after a couple tokes and listening to it from a different perspective its almost repulsing. what i dont understand is people saying his vocals are suddenly more annoying here when its really not that far off from PII

alright time to rank em
periphery > omega > periphery ii > alpha > icarus (w/o remixes) > clear
all are within the high 4 - 3.5 range

They're all around the same for me, I thought Clear was pretty enjoyable, at least they tried something slightly different
on it.

heard their debut from like 4 or 5 years ago. pretty w/e imo

i recommend giving omega a listen and if you dont like that then this band is not for you
|

all right, andrew. i'll check it out because of your recommendation! i don't hate these guys or anything, just found most of their stuff to be kind of run-of-the-mill

i dont blame anyone for not liking periphery. theyre nothing in the grand scheme of things- they just write catchy ass pop metal mixed with different styles because of having really talented and versitile musicians, and i think thats exactly how misha wanted it to be
that said, i do hope you find something you like on omega, matt. the last three tracks are anything but run of the mill :]

I honestly just can't get past Spencer's vocals at all. His harsh vocals are okay at this point and i forget but their was one track on Omega that his harsh vocals actually impressed me. However, his cleans I can't tolerate at all.

I empathize completely. Spencers vocals are very brazen and loud, and he loves to be the center of attention. if you like his voice, thats not a problem. if you don't, its nigh intolerable
But the way i see it: this is the antithesis of THA's Midheaven. in ty's review he said midheaven was a shit attempt at combining alt rock and tech metal because of an arrogant tone-deaf douche of a frontman. but spencer isnt tone-deaf, in fact he has a serious gift in being able to come up with really catchy melodies. i highly suggest you listen to midheaven... i know its crazy stay with me. youll hear many similarities in the writing style, vocal approach, cheesy choruses etc. and then after you finish midheaven (or as far as you can get into it), listen to periphery. this album in fact. then maybe then you, and all the others that dont like spencer's vox, can empathize with those of us that do :]

I remember someone in the band mentioning that the story and characters were rather "complex"... Well, I
must be a fucking retard then, because all I get from the lyrics is: Demonic ritual, young girl, psychic
powers, walls, the vileness of men, Hell, Beelzebub (ha, that one made me laugh) and rebirth...
Oh, and a COPIOUS amount of blood.
