Couldn't have said it better myself, Johnny. Thanks. I really want to see you take a stab at a review for

this Alec because I just read your previous reviews and holy shit.

Also, I'm glad I didn't need to jam post sell-out Metallica at age 14 to gain an appreciation for Master of

Puppets.

Im not asking for a 3000 word review. All that I ask is that the reviewer takes his time to absorb and understand what he's reviewing. Or do you really think that you can take in months of work in just 60 minutes? You have to listen, analyze, understand, appreciate. Preferably listen many times and take a few days between sessions. One starts finding different things when you listen under a different light. If the reviewer had done his homework, Im sure the results would have been better!

Dude just stop. You're digging yourself into a really deep hole here. If you intend to stick around on the site you might want to consider getting along with other users and not alienating yourself immediately.

" to absorb and understand what he's reviewing" - clearly his 'understanding' of the album is different than yours, but it isn't inherently inferior. you're basically asking for weeks of exposure to review a new release, which is kind of absurd. it's easier for staff who might have access to the album months in advance.

the guy is a bit annoying, but i dont think there is need for insults.
Alec needs to understand that reviews are subjective and that u may not agree with them, but that
doesnt make it a bad review.

The other review has been up for almost the same amount of time as mine has and yet you criticize the one you disagree with. Hmmm.

Maybe if you had listened to Master of Puppets for a few sessions you wouldn't have needed the S&M album to appreciate real metal music.

johnny you also see reviewers here giving streaming albums less than a day until they review it. no

need for weeks of listening but opinions can change after more than 3-5 listens.

but in this album's case, it's easy to spot a polished turd. it doesn't deserve an essay describing hy

it smells, but nontheless back up why it does, this site did try to be professional in the past so

uphold it. idk if this review does that, I'm not gonna bother reading, but that's besides my point.

the rest of you idiots are just gangbanging blasting this idiot, wasting time.

well yeah, reviewing an album after only a couple listens is kinda dicey, but still.

sputnik's fine to polish one's writing skills through critiques and pointers, but let's try to keep it

professional. blasting another dude's writing doesn't help another.

I really just wanted to have a civil discussion on why this album is garbage. Sorry to have seen this thread go off the rails like this.

Its funny how you think its OK to trash months (or years?) of work that are invested in an album. But somehow its not OK to give an honest opinion about a crappy review that was made in a few hours.

Its so sad when bad reviewers can't stand being badly reviewed.

could you explain what you dislike about this review without being condescending? you could very well be right about
something, and have something genuinely helpful to offer the reviewer, but so far I disagree with most of your points

We've already pointed out that you did the same thing with your Pain of Salvation write up...

For starters the first comment on this thread: "Probably gonna get negged to oblivion for this." That just makes it look like you wrote the review just to spite the fans. Do you want to be a serious reviewer or not?

You constantly put down or minimize all the bands efforts: "Then Periphery II happened.", "An EP full of oddly generic instrumental and dance-floor metal tracks later...", "... the problem with the majority of this album is the blandness of the songwriting", "... sound like they were written by a tenth grader.", etc.

As I said before, the review (although long in word count) fails to cover the wholeness of the album. If Im gonna read a 8 paragraph review (lyrics not included) I expect to have a complete overview of the product, not just a teenagers rant about an album he heard once.

You are not at all assertive. If you are going to say something negative, you usually counter it with the positive side of things. Something like: "She's fat but has a nice personality".

I get that you did not like the album, and I can respect that. What I can't stand is two things: 1.- Reviewers who think they are "edgy" because they write a bunch of bad stuff about someone. 2.- People who can't take an opinion.

You don't have to get all aggressive on anyone just because they don't think like what you wrote. You didn't like the album and 21/33 didn't like your review. I mean, mathematically Periphery's score (3.4/5) is better than yours. And you think their CD is crap. Imagine what we think about your review.

personally not a fan of the review due to too much concentration on the band's history and 2nd to last paragraph being the only one with enough substance and warranted, focused criticism
