I mean... are you guys serious? Listen to "The Clincher" and tell me it wouldn't slot seamlessly into an APC/early Tool album. Apart from some differences in how the chorus melody is constructed the approach is *identical*.

That said, on second listen this isn't as mediocre as I thought on first listen. If nothing else, they're a bit less slavishly devoted to the minor pentatonic scale then Tool is. Still nothing to write home about, but enjoyable enough for what it is.

I don't care much for Tool so if these guys are a Tool rip off, they are doing it far better than what they are "imitating."

The Clincher, Panic Prone, Breach Birth and Still Running are awesome.

Awesome review. Awesome album. I grew up listening to this and while WWN was my favorite at some point, I think this aged a lot better.

Another Know It All and Emotional Drought are such underrated songs within their discography

I gotta say, watching Pete perform their new song Endlessly on YouTube today...not quite sure I dug it. It was an acoustic version so the final product may be different. But wow his voice did not sound good.

Well, Pete's voice is usually hit or miss when singing live so I am not surprised. I'm sure the studio version will sound better.

The Tool thing makes sense.

Chevelle is basically how Tool would sound if they played alt rock instead of prog.

Need to check this one better btw. WWN is one of my all time favourite albums.

It definitely did.

I’m glad the new song was ok in the end. It’s nothing special for them but I’m excited nonetheless. I can’t possibly expect it to top this or Vena Sera though

Always thought Vena Sera was a middling album for them. This one is top 2 though.

Vena was my favorite for a while, now it's probs top 3

I thought this was kind of a poor follow up to WWN and Vena was a better step in the right direction. Will most likely revisit the whole thing soon, just out of curiosity. I typically only listen to 4 songs from it so it's been a while since I have heard some of these

idk I think this is their best, the melodies and choruses are just so good and the heavy bits still hit hard

Vena Sera has some great songs (the first three, Paint the Seconds, Humanoid) but isn't as consistently excellent
