I never played the original game, so I can't compare it with that. I know for sure one episode is not based on the game, but the rest is pretty much a copy/paste with even some identical dialogs and scenes. I haven't finished it yet but I can say I'm enjoying it a lot. I like it better that The Leftovers already, it can't obviously top Sopranos or The Wire, or Deadwood, but it's on par if not better than Watchmen.
