Better safe than sorry, but the 2 range is right.

I think so. Anytime an album is basically a job to sit through means it isn't good.

Nothing really overtly surprises me about my favorite band Chevelle but this new album came out of nowhere with there extremely rare deviation from their sound. And focusing on more experimental tones I really enjoyed it. I still think vena sera kinda sucked lol

I understand everybody's entitled to that opinion thing. But what's the purpose of trashing a band you never liked? I don't even bother to listen. Like Hawthorne heights after their first album they sucked so badly. Honorable mention fly leaf

I wouldn't say tone so much as layering, but tone too since they fucked with so much different equipment.

258 ratings, and still above 4 average. I've never seen one of their albums do so well. All the reviews on other sites I've seen so far were in the same vein. Good to see these guys get the recognition, it's been a long time coming.

" The lyrics throughout the album as just as great "

??? Chevelle's lyrics are honestly their weak point now. Pete's literally just stringing together nonsense, and he has been for at least three albums now.

I agree with scottpilgrim and SGGreenman, the only reason I want to keep listening is to write a better review.

Take Out the Gunman is probably the worst song here, sounds so juvenile

I fail to see how songs like Twinge, One Ocean, Ouija Board or Take Out The Gunman are juvenile sorry

They tend to do tongue-in-cheek songs in their later albums, but I wouldn't regard them as juvenile.

these songs are not tongue in cheek either. I used to listen to bad albums to write reviews and it's just sad. Haven't done it for years. I wrote a 1.5 review on Living Things but I went into that hoping to like it. It's important to enjoy the music you are talking about. If you don't and if I were to let myself care about someones shit opinion, I would feel bad for you.

Those songs are all bare bones and all sound the same. One ocean is extremely repetitive and sounds like a bad muse song.

surely people go into everything they listen to hoping to like it else what's the point of bothering in the first place ?

if you don't like something I don't see anything wrong with writing a bad review as long as you back up your opinions.

Yea it's important to enjoy your music obviously but I don't see the problem in reviewing an album you hoped to like but didn't. It actually helps in your ability to be more critical.

the concept of not hoping to like something you attempt to listen to is bizarre
