I suggest you do a little bit of research. Not saying he's a pioneer, but he's certainly been involved in the music business for some time, and he's collaborated with & written songs for some of the greatest names in the pop genre at the moment. Not to mention the fact that he had two hit singles competing for the number one spot on billboard earlier on in the year... not sure how he's the "epitome of bad pop" in that regard.
