I think the hype could be just from the fact that I don't think anyone was expecting it to be this good. I shouldn't speak for any of you, but while I dig Annie's previous albums, I didn't really expect this album to be this good. I had actually completely forgotten it was coming out until I saw the stream in the news post.

i don't think much of Marry Me either except for The Apocalypse Song and Human Racing. but Actor and Strange Mercy I had as solid 4s. i didn't expect this kinda hype and praise

I don't think the album is THAT different from other Indie-Pop type stuff. Then again I haven't heard her prior stuff so I can't see how she's changed etc.

Nice read man.
She's been on my sight for quite a while now, but this is the first album of hers I actually have listened to. Wonderful stuff. Kind of reminds me very much of Talking Heads at points.
