I intend to give it another spin but first impression is boring and forgettable but quality.

EDIT: "The Master" was his first dud. Not worth seeing besides Phoenix's morbid performance

i disagree. have you given it more than one viewing?

Nice soundtrack, but I think full appreciation would come after seeing the movie. Which is something I really need to do.

Nice review as ever, Pavel.

I only saw it once and I thought it was fantastic.

Opinions, opinions
Either way. Besides this fine film, so far this year's going to turn out some exciting titles:
Transcendence (return to the 90's "cyberthriller" genre), the Mad Max reboot (crossing my joints
hoping it's not going to be a total piece of shit), Dumb & Dumber 2 (I know, but c'mon), The Secret
Service etc etc

i am not reading all the comments to see if this has been said, but i think, while your review is very good and i agree with it, it should be noted that Arcade Fire are not the ones truly responsible for this score. it was composed solely by William Butler (Win's brother) and Owen Pallett (who is only a sort-of-member) and then performed by Arcade Fire. I just think they deserve credit for their composition skills. :-)

Thanks jeremology. It's interesting- in the credits of the film it lists arcade fire. The Grammys listed Will and Owen. Are there any sources that say which is the definitive answer?
