i honestly do not hear it. just picked a song from this and played 'off to the races' after it and they sound nothing alike vocally. i would make so many other comparisons before choosing lana

It's there every now and then, but it's so fleeting that the comparison is rather flat.

the similarities have more to do with the aesthetic to me. Their voices sound strikingly similar at times (seriously, how are some people not hearing this??) but the main reason I believe the two artists to be similar is that they go for the same kind of aesthetic in their music. Just me I guess idk.

Except that Lorde rags on the faux opulence that Lana Del Rey surrounds herself in. They're really not going for the same thing at all, outside of the fact that they both kinda make indie pop with hip hop intonations. To me, Lorde is more reminiscent of Alanis Morisette, self aware and tongue wedged in cheek. Warring against pop music with a gleam in her eye

absolutely glorious album, can't stop listening to it
it kind of reminds me of a group like Metric in parts, especially Ribs/Buzzcut Season
