Yes I gave it a 4 because I think this album deserves it. I rate albums based on how the band delivers every song and how I feel the band is emotionally attached to the music, and AA did a great job. The songwriting immensely improved too.
Yeah it's also hard to believe that they have matured based from their previous releases but is also the main reason why people think this album sucks. They already had a bad image for AA so they never bothered to give AA another chance and closed their minds that they can never make a good album. This does not apply to all who didn't enjoy the album though.
I don't expect you to change your mind, however. For me this album is great.
