Titanslayer I REALLY don't think borderline suicidal people self medicating is always a good idea though...

There's no substitute for a good psychologist's care.

Yes, it is their own fault. I will agree with you there. I will disagree with you and
say that it's not as simple as jumping online to self-diagnose yourself(stupid
stupid stupid) or picking up a phone. That phone sometimes feels like it weighs
a thousand pounds. Prude can also be a factor, as well as having an
unbalanced mind.

They could self medicate with herbal medications. There's no side effects to those and they could

actually help

Really? Herbal medications? Let's give that to a schizophrenic patient and see how well that works.

That's not always true. Someone who suffer from bipolar disorder or any other mental illness knows of no other way of thinking. Sometimes medication and therapy don't help.

Who says that people who self harm aren't suffering from a mental disorder?

I mean come on. Think about it. Who in their right mind thinks it's a good idea to cut themselves to solve a problem? There is obviously some type of mental health issue there. No logical person thinks it's a good idea to cut themselves.

Yes people are in control of their own outcomes, but if society as a whole tried to remove the stigma associated with self harm and suicide and actually tried to see where it leads, it could really lead to more people getting the help they need and MAYBE even saving lives. To me that's worth it.

And again, who in their right mind would post stuff like that on the Internet? You're ignoring the facts right in front of you.

I said they could be insane like two pages ago man and snide tried defending sane people. Which way is this convo going exactly?

And I don't see how taking any of those medications would harm someone with a mental disorder so I don't see what your point is. At least they would be trying to help themselves if they tried to take a medication.

I never said it would harm them. You made that assumption. As someone who prescribes to holistic ideals to treat physical ailments as well as help with brain function, I know where you're going. I also know for a fact that brain chemistry and brain function are two separate thing. Herbal supplements aren't going to balance a person with a brain chemistry imbalance out. It won't do anything at all, in fact, so why waste thr time and money on it? They need something much stronger, a pharmaceutical grade neurological supplement, and that doesn't always work. In fact, some of them do more harm than good. Some people are just destined for destruction, and there's nothing we can do about it.

It's scary the amount of people, especially teens and pre-adolescents, that are misdiagnosed in this country. A doctor might give a simple diagnosis of depression, when the child is really suffering from something even worse. The worst part is that some of these kids shouldn't be diagnosed St all, and are anyways, and that creates the mental instability in them when there was none in the first place.

"You made that assumption"

No I didn't I said it wouldn't because it seemed like you were implying that.

"It won't do anything at all, in fact, so why waste thr time and money on it?"

Don't knock it until you try it. Seriously it's not like they are that expensive, and they could help.

"They need something much stronger, a pharmaceutical grade neurological supplement"

Why go straight to the drugs that admittedly are dangerous when something that is completely safe and

less expensive might do the trick? And if you don't want people to know you wouldn't have to tell

anyone that way.

You don't think that's been tried before? I mean, seriously?

And in not one of my posts on here did I imply that a holistic approach would harm anyone.

And honestly, do you have experience in the mental health field?

If they have problems that bad herbs probably won't fix their issues but it would probably make them feel better. Much better then cutting would. Hell when they feel better they could be rational enough to get some real help.

Herbal remedies don't make someone feel better. They help with brain function. Again, brain function and brain chemistry are two totally different things. I don't know how many times I need to say that.

"You don't think that's been tried before? I mean, seriously? "

Oh, so every person that cuts has tried that?

"And honestly, do you have experience in the mental health field? "

Ad ignorantiam. Argument from authority
