No, bands suck because bands suck. Entirely unrelated issue.

The point is, much more is possible musically in the modern age.

The elements of music that made the classics classic can be recreated and revamped to much better incarnations.

It's not a matter of "good" or "bad" production. It's a matter of it the production fits the music. If you're going for aggressiveness you don't want a weak sound.

Yeah, modern production helps, but if your riffs suck, they will suck either way

And Justice for all and Master Of Puppets doesn't have a weak sound and the production match the music, the problem that you mentioned is present in st anger and in death magnetic but not here. Also many bands that try to recreate the elements that made the classics memorable works usually lack of certain elements and create carbon copies with less effectiveness. Instrumentation is untouchable in master of puppets and in AJFA only has the little issue of the lack of bass which was included in the remastered version. In both albums you have diversity, aggresiveness ( Damage Inc, blackened, the shortest straw, disposable heroes), also a big part of this album is very technical ( not at the same level of meshuggah or cynic ) but is a complex work with guitar sounds and more that not too many guitarists are capable to do, also the instrumentals are cool and have variations.

Besides, you aren't allowed to make critics to metallica discography when you rated with 2 AJFA and you rated with 3 and 3,5 the works of lame acts like enter shikari, fall out boy, asking alexandria, skrillex, I see stars, of mice and men, we came as romans or woe is me. Most of those acts make albums with few or non redimable qualities; ben bruce, joshua moore, joe throman made some of the most boring, simple, insipid guitar work ever, kirk hammlet is not best guitar palyer but he and james have made some enjoyable guitar work and some nice solos and riffs. Also worsnop,Carlile and stump have some annoying voices and lack of any sort of range, besides the first one has used autotune; james is not the best vocalist in the entire world but compared to those vocalists of shitty post hardcore bands he seems mercury of matt beringer. Finally the tracks of those bands and of acts like skrillex are weak, have no variation and they always involve elements of the most pathetic musical trends in the worst way possible.

I rated those bands high scores because I used to like them way back in freshmen year, but my taste has changed to more complex material such as progressive and math rock. Nice try though.

And as for "aggression", I am really not that impressed since I heard the likes of Dillinger and Converge

With respect of the agression comment, the agreesion managed by converge and dillinger is different than the one managed by old metallica. Just cause the agression of those 2 acts has more appealing with u doesn't mean that there is no agression on MOP and AJFA
