Oh how I still love this record. It just has not gotten old and I can't wait until they headline the US.

i honestly just bought heroine a few days ago [waiting until i couldnt stand not hearing it anymore because i was scared that they could have possibly ruined my entire thought of them with this 'new sound'].. but i was met with something that i seemed to enjoy more than 'Dear Diary..' which i was always a fan of.. i suppose i relate to the lyrics a lot more.. call me 'emo' if you want but this cd basically maps out my life.. depressing as it may seem to you its like my musical twin in ways..
and i think that it shouldnt matter what everyone thinks about a band.. if you want to trash them or not be my guest to say what you will.. but i see no point in trashing a band.. if you dont like them thats you.. dont bitch at ppl who do like the band.. everyone has their own taste in music.. FFTL may fit your taste or it may not.. and y should it matter who they tour with?? they didnt write those bands songs and tell them how to perform them.. they are completely seperate productions.. its just ridiculous to call sonny hypocritical because they're touring with bands that are pretty much what he doesnt want FFTL to be.. and who cares how they dress?? its all about being who you are without the opinions of others affecting you..
|
| |
well its hypocritical because he says he HATES bands like that yet associates with them

This is good.
|

i dont think it was worthy of all the hype it got. imo
|
| |
It didn't get any hype.
|
| |
it did around where im at, alot of people was talking about it, and revolver even had a couple articles/interviews about them.
|
| |
That isn't hype, more like general cover for an album. Everybody gets that. Except Oslo : (

what really bugs me is that (imo) the song 'heroine' could have been one of the best songs of all time, if they took out the first 30 seconds and the last 3 minuets or so, and made it longer, and added more stuff to it. Instead of the best part being only 2 minuets and a half.

"These faux emo-goth bands are becoming what the youth clings to, not the actual good music going around today. Kids with little to no lives get into this because this is what was once cool and non-conformist. Now everyone's non conformist, just like everybody else. Wait..."
i like it because the music is good. Just like Radiohead or Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd or old Weezer or Sigur Ros or Smashing Pumpkins or NIN or Tool or Isis or etc......

"Time to crawl to the salty hill that fills my life" .....?
It's actually "Time to crawl to the salty heel that pins my life"
That's my first point. My second, Heroine totally demolishes any pre-conception of FFTL. They're older tracks were OKAY, but the sound they accomplish on heroine is refreshing in a time where shitty manufactured "emo" bands constantly supply us the same song over and over again. Heroine is a much more experimental album, yet finds an eerie balance between the desire to be unique and the punk-influence that defined their original sound. I have to say, they're are defintely lyrical lapses (ahem waltz moore ahem) but overall, I totally dig the moody atmosphere that causes this album to stand out. And for all you people still bitching cause they don't sound like the old FFTL, just move on to the next cut and paste assembly of insecure dudes and a bleeding heart.

That was a good review. Personally, I love the band, have all the albums, so obviously I worship every aspect of the album.

The Latest Plague is pretty cool...but other than that was a complete waste of my time. Afterbirth might have to be one of the worst songs ever.

Yeah, I really can't stand this all that much. Or From First To Last. Or their inane shirts. Though, to their credit, I haven't listened to this since about two months after the release, so maybe I'll go listen to it again. This Message Edited On 02.06.07
