i mean, idk if our opinions are 'totally' different. sh1 is a borderline masterpiece imo and i'm super stoked for the remake.
also you absolutely should play 4 as well as check out the soundtrack. fr, the soundtrack is incredible and if you like this, you will fs dig

Nice bump. Currently playing through the entire og quadrilogy and I forgot how much I love this one. Definitely the most intense Silent Hill game.
The soundtrack is also amazing, I could listen to End of Small Sanctuary on loop until the end of time. I will literally just chill in the bathroom at the start for 20 minutes and enjoy the only solace in the entire game lol. I almost hate leaving that orange-tinted alleyway bc I know what horrors await beyond that door.

Homecoming is my pick for worse and not even close imo. I actually kinda have a small soft spot for downpour.
I have most of the games physical besides any version of Shattered Memories and 4 (Which I have from GOG). Really want to get Shattered Memories but finding a Wii copy has proven challenging and I'm not paying 400 for the PS2 version lmao.

I've never played Downpour or Homecoming and I don't plan on it. Anything not made by Team Silent I just don't care about.
I found a CIB version of 4 recently for 100 bucks. Total score. Even tho that game is janky is hell and the ghosts are annoying af I still love it. Such a good story.
