This is all a very solid review, and it's clear you really understand the release as a whole. I like to see this amount of depth-- I don't agree with the "it's too long" remarks, because this doesn't need to be brief. It's a review on an older album, all of which we've probably read about at one point or another.
I like seeing you take this as an opportunity to get all of these opinions out. The review works very well for me. The only thing I'd have to say is that the review does read higher than a 1.5, especially since you mention some slightly redeeming features to the album. I guess I equate 1.5 albums with awful albums, and you make this album just sound painfully bland/uneven.

Great review. I don't think it's that bad of an album. But it's not as good to me as to the average sputnik user as well.
Thinking 2.5-3.
Also your review is great but I feel it does not read like a 1.5

First thought upon seeing the score: "What is this, Pitchfork?".
But yeah, I never could get into this album, except for a few songs.

True Life: The Fragile is my favorite NIN album

Well written review, but in some ways your review is more 'bloated' than the album in question. Yes, Reznor's lyrics are trite, but I think they've always been, even when they were catchy. And both discs have a certain flow to them, at least I've always felt. Then again, I'm probably biased since this is my second favorite NIN release...
