dude, no one really appreciates metal for what it is, this is definatly a new chapter for slipknot, sure they will lose some fans that think they have "*****'d out" but metal will always be metal, it isnt a passing interest, metal is pure emotion put into music for us to enjoy, not knock on because its just "noise" but i guess none of you would figure that out. Metal will never die, it has just began, if you dont like it, dont review the material, cause you ****ing suck at it... the new cd is awesome because its different from the other two. the self title was just unabashed hardcore metal, iowa was a little lighter and darker, and then vol. 3 came out, and it is just an ode to those who have supported the band and metal in general... so **** y'all if you dont like it

new cd is definitely different from their other albums....but a good different. it's still heavy, and even more artistic. they should have stuck with ross robinson instead of going with rick ruben tho. he ruined it for them.

Nice review!!!, I like the album, bacause it is not that hard compared to the other slipknot cd's. On the album you can hear that the improved their playing, they play their guitars much better!!!!!
The album rocks. Before I forget and The Blister exists are the best songs on the album!!!!!!!

ps: My Englih isn't so great, I'm from Holland!!!

I bought the album when it came out, dunno why, porbably because i used to listen to slipknot a lot .The new album is great i agree, the guitarists are obviously better and they make use of all nine members instead of having some doing nothing.
duality is a great song but isn't the best on the album. The acoustic songs are very good and very unslipknotish

All of you people who are anti slipknot just need to shut up, we don't bitch at you because we hate one of the bands you like. people should be able to voice their opinions without having superior idiots like lord dargon insulting them for their tastes in music. The album is bad *** and the best of the year so far

I don't hate Slipknot, i don't even mind them, i just hate their idiotic fans who believe Slipknot are the greatest band.

I'm still waiting for several of these people who claim it is to name ways that they are better than some of the bands i listed (technically/songwritingly speaking, opinion cant really apply in such a context). Still waiting........

Well, i will say this: The new album is good enough that i'd see Slipknot if they came to town...i'm just so sick of their moron fans.

Well what can i say..... i brought this album they day it came out i ran out of my college lecture and brought it and buggered off home, sooo what did i think of it....... it was ****ing amazing dude by far the best album, the twists and turns in the direction slipknot were taking through the album was breathtaking. one minute full on heavy metal and suddenly it becomes beutifully melodic. i never knew slipknot could do something like this and i will be dissapointed if on there next album they dont experiment more with melody. well im off.
This thread is hilarious

So basically, this is what I think you all should do.
Listen to the album, then make a informed decision on what to say.
I'm not a fan of Slipknot by any means, but this album is actually really good.
The solo in Pulse Of The Maggots sounds a LOT like a Kerry or Jeff solo (which is good, because I like Slayer)

Members of this forum are really being childish. I'm only going to be 17 in a couple of weeks, and I think a lot more maturely than most narrow minded others in here. If you're every going to say "uuhh [insert band here] sucks blah blah blah" then think back to when someone said that to you. The chances are that you got really pissed off and gave them a bunch of lip back.

I'm a great lover of old school 80's thrash and all that jazz, and I'm not afraid to say I like an album other than Metallica/Slayer/Ozzy/Maiden etc...

So, go listen to the album (download it or whaterver i don't give a $h!t) or at least a few songs before you go "Oh Iowa sucked, so this must be bad". Stereotyping is the same as racism. So, you're a racist. Go tell your friends at the next KKK meeting about how much you THINK [X Band] sucks.
Please don't bother referring to avatars and statuses to argue a point, mainly because it doesn't help your point at all, and especially because your name is hardly the peak of maturity in itself.

I just finished listening and I'm impressed. My favourite songs on the album are Duality and Nameless, they really mixed the heavy and soft parts of the song together well. I think I prefer Duality more, it does a great job of showcasing Corey's singing ability. I knew he had talent, but I had no idea he was this talented. It sounds like a cross between Stone Sour and Slipknot, but they didn't do their own version of Omega or anything.

EDIT: How come I only have one post? I should have about five. Does the board get purged regularly or something?

I've heard 4 songs off this album so far, and I have to say, they're horrible...

Very uncreative... Yet I will not go into discussion on this matter, because of one reason.

SLIPKNOT FANS... As shown by about 8 different posters above, I'm not wasting my time on stating why I don't like Slipknot.

Argh! For crying out fucking loud you fucking morons!
Stop stating how we all must listen to soft pussy music because we "can't handle Slipknot". Are you really so fucking idiotic that you think Slipknot is the heaviest music out there?

iowa the went pop/metal

Ok dude i've got no idea how to explain this to you but...HOW THE F*** CAN YOU EVEN THINK OF SUCH A THING? and what the hell is "pop/metal" anyway? i'm a slipknot fan(though i don't think they're the best band in the world) and i believe that iowa was special, i know it's just an opinion but if there's something that must be called "pop/metal" is vol.3....corey needs to shut up(it's pure stone sour)...i love the instrumental side of the record but his singing....it just ruins the whole thing but hey it's my opinion.

....iowa pop/metal....thats a good one can't wait to tell all my friends
