Scottish synth-pop act Chvrches do a great job of building up anticipation for their upcoming debut LP with the 'Recover' EP. Spearheaded by the fantastic title track (which also comes with 2 decent remixes), the trio's 1980s influence is there for all to hear... As is their knack for catchy melodies. Well-produced by the band themselves, Lauren Mayberry's sweet & enchanting vocals take center stage, while Martin Doherty adds variety on 'ZVVL'. The 2 b-sides are more interesting than successful, but this EP displays the band's diversity & potential by somehow managing to make their tunes as simple as they are intricate. Recommended Tracks: Recover & ZVVL.
